On July 21, 2022, in Kiev, some Ukrainians pay tribute to fighters who have been killed in Mariupol, Donetsk People’s Republic, Donbass, between March 11 and May 20, from the encirclement of the city to the surrender of the last defenders in Azovstal steel mill. Their corpses have been later exchanged.

Have you noticed the symbol on the coffin ? The Wolsfangel (wolf hook) was a 15th-century heraldic charge in Germany, not Poland nor Ukraine, that everybody would have forgotten, except specialists. But the Nazis have included it in their runic symbols system between the 1930s and 1945. Among the Ukrainian nationalists who started raising their racism as an ideology, after the dissolution of Soviet Union in 1991, the Social National Party (SNPU) was created in western Ukraine and chose again the Wolfsangel as its emblem. Some Nazi rioters bore it on Maidan square in 2014. The fascist militants became militias, have been later legalized as national battalions of volunteers, against the uprising in Donbass. These funeral are for fallen service members of Azov regiment, a regular formation of the Ukrainian national guard. The Wolfsangel is its emblem, but since February 24, 2022, beginning of the Russian special military operation in Donbass and Ukraine, many Westerners are regarding as heroes these Nazi paramilitaries

Let us forget for a moment about the ideology. Are they heroes ? Let us look at the facts. These national battalions, including Azov, are special police, punitive formations, which have slaughtered civilians in Odessa, Mariupol, deliberately shelled for eight years, are still shelling residential areas in Donbass, where no troops are stationed, no military value facilities are set. In March, the Russian special military operation encircled and besieged the Ukrainian garrison of Mariupol, including the core of Azov. 3/1 is the common balance of forces, in order to achieve a successful offensive. The republican and Russian assailants were likely fewer than the 8,000 well entrenched Ukrainians and in no account 24,000. The defenders were using civilians as human shields, detained hostages in Azovstal steel mill, tried to exchange them for food and drugs, finally surrendered. The Russian siege was a masterpiece. Who are the heroes ?

What are the reasons for this Western madness ? Most politicians are soulless individuals, often egocentric thugs. What about the common folks ? Are they silly stooges ? Compassion for the Ukrainians ? Come on, the same people have not given a damn while Nazis were attacking Russian-speaking civilians. The Western support is actually motivating Volodymyr Zelenskyy to protract the conflict, when the carnage would end with the liberation of Donbass and the legal crackdown on Nazism in Ukraine.

I guess that the actual reason is once more ideology, not necessarily racism, but the belief in the supremacy of the Western civilization. I am skeptical and even amused. The US and their UK minion are the undisputed champions of criminal wars of aggression, Europe is the culprit of two world ones and forever, the Heimat of Nazism.
