On September 16, 2026, UK defense ministry discloses the name of a British serviceman who was killed in Ukraine on Saturday, September 12. Major Paul Wilks, 40 years old, was member of the Intelligence Corps from his graduation at Sandhurst academy in 2012. He has been deployed on multiple operational tours, including to Afghanistan.

The official cause of his death is a road accident. A Russian drone may have committed a right-of-way violation.

After a first death declaration on December 9, 2025 -another accident– Wilks is the second official fallen British serviceman in Ukraine.
