US nuclear blackmail in Ukraine

chronicle

Terrorism and lie

August 6, 2022, is the 77th anniversary of the first atomic attack. In 1945, between 100 and 200,000 people died instantly in Hiroshima. The second bomb was dropped three days later on Nagasaki, the perpetrators were also American. Nobody has used later a nuclear weapon. While the whole world is remembering, the US are exploiting the threat of a nuclear catastrophe for military and political purposes in Ukraine

The atomic cloud over Hiroshima on August 6, 1945

The war was tearing for eight years the Donbass, eastern Ukraine, where the Ukrainian forces were carrying on with the shelling of civilians, when Russia has started on February 24, 2022, a special military operation, in order to liberate the Russian-speaking separatist region, demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. With three times less fighters but a higher firepower, the Russian forces have won on the battlefield, freed Mariupol in May, secured a continuous territory between Crimea and Donbass. On the left bank of the Dnieper river, they have seized Energodar early March and nearby, Zaporojie nuclear power plant (ZNPP), the most powerful (6,000 MW) in Europe. After these quick success, attrition is the new strategy. Crack troops are slowly gaining ground in Donbass, while artillery and airstrikes are bleeding the Ukrainian military manpower, destroying the weapons and ammunition that NATO is delivering to Ukraine

A Tyulpan (Tulip) 240 mm mortar is firing at the Ukrainian forces (Russian defense ministry on July 22, 2022)

Forty days after Kherson oblast, on August 8, the head of the new military-civilian administration in Zaporojie region announces that a referendum will be held early September to join the Russian federation. The Ukrainian authorities are mad, the popular success of the referendum in southern Ukraine will seal their military defeat.

On August 5, the Ukrainian forces shoot seven shells which cause damage within the nuclear power plant (ZNPP), the shutdown of the high voltage line which was providing backup power to the units 1 and 2, blaze of a fuel pipeline. The day after, three NATO 155 mm shells explode next to a fuel storage. On August 7, the strikes cause the shutdown of the primary control and safety system of unit 4. On August 11, the Russian air defense manages to shoot down several rockets and UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles)

While its artillery is threatening to trigger a nuclear havoc which would relegate Chernobyl as an exercise, Ukraine is pretending that the Russian forces would shell the power plant they are themselves controlling. Pathetic is the performance of the Western media, which have always spread the Ukrainian propaganda. I have carried out a wide survey in France. The leitmotiv is Ukraine and Russia blame each other. I have found only one courageous line, on the website of Radio classique, on August 8 : however, according to our expert, it is unlikely that this attack was of Russian origin. Stooges.

Russia has asked for an inspection of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) on the site and the meeting of the UN Security Council, which gathers on August 11. In his daily address on social networks, Volodymyr Zelenskyy repeats the lie that Russia would shell the nuclear power plant. The president is a former professional actor and an opportunist, maybe a crook. He is unsubstantial, like most of the current Western leaders, but dangerous when powerful. The US are using his madness.

Russia ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, declares

If the Ukrainian armed forces attacks continue, it can happen at any moment. Then the territories of Kiev, Kharkov, Zaporojie, Poltava, Kherson, Odessa, Nikolaev, Kirovograd, Vinnitsa regions will be under the threat of radioactive contamination. Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics. Border regions of Russia and Belarus, as well as Moldova, Bulgaria and Romania. And these are the most optimistic expert forecasts. The real scale of the nuclear catastrophe at the ZNPP is impossible even to imagine. In this case, all responsibility for this will fall on the Western sponsors of Kiev

Ukraine is demanding a demilitarized zone (DMZ) around the plant, actually a Russian retreat from the region, the US State Department adds that Russia bears full responsibility for all possible risks at the ZNPP. That is blackmail. Thugs

Situation in southeastern Ukraine and Donbass on August 11, 2022 : Energodar and its nuclear power plant (ZNPP) are in the southwestern part of the map

On August 19, 2022, Maxar Technologies releases a satellite photo taken at 11:33 am, local time, above the ZNPP

I suspect that the satellite has sought the evidence of one among incoherent Ukrainian claims, the militarization of the nuclear power plant. Yet no gun, no troop appear in the photo. But on Twitter, the US company notes

New satellite images collected this morning, August 19, 2022, at 11:33 AM local time, of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant facility in Enerhodar, Ukraine. No significant signs of recent shelling or damage is seen in or around the nuclear plant

However,

  • to demolish it is not necessary, in order to shut down a nuclear power plant or trigger a catastrophe,
  • Russia has precisely described the damage, which have affected for example the power supply of reactors safety systems (cf. supra),
  • the same Western commentators have spread the Ukrainian lies, that the Russians would bomb themselves the plant, are still supporting, on safety pretext, the demand of a Russian retreat from the region.

What a pathetic and hilarious pirouette, while Ukraine is losing the war and NATO is assessing asymmetric strategies and tactics, like the threat of a nuclear catastrophe in Energodar or special operations in Crimea.

56-year-old Tobias Ellwood is a former serviceman and a Tory member of the British parliament. On August 19, he comments an article of the Times, which is quoting the Ukrainian authorities, Russia plotting false-flag attack on nuclear plant

Ellwood is a defense specialist and unless an idiot, he knows that Russia did not and will not shell the plant. His point is that any deliberate damage causing potential radiation leak should be a pretext for the involvement of NATO in the fighting. I guess that Ellwood does not seek a world nuclear war, he is a hawk and a gambler.

On August 20, an executive of the local Russian military-civilian administration states on TV that the Ukrainian artillery is targeting the dry storage facility for spent nuclear fuel, that a direct hit on a container would produce a dirty blast, would disperse radioactive material over a large area

On August 23, during a new meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Vasily Nebenzya details the timeline of the Ukrainian shelling, describes the enemy weapons, displays photos of the damage.

Here are pictures which are showing the impacts of shells or rockets near the units 2 and 3 of the ZNPP, that the Ukrainian forces are still targeting on August 26 and 27

(Russian mission in Vienna)

Here are the Ukrainian forecast of irradiation in case of a nuclear catastrophe at the ZNPP, given the winds on August 29

(Energoatom)

Donbass, Crimea and Russia would be impacted. In my mind, such situation would be a legitimate motive for nuclear strategic strikes against the US, UK, Europe and of course, Kiev, or maybe more graduated, the destruction of Kiev and tactical nuclear strikes against the Ukrainian armed forces.

Robert Kelley is a former inspector within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). On August 30, he speaks on CNN, denounces as disinformation the claims that Russia would shell the ZNPP, as scarmongering, the story of iodine tablets that the Ukrainian authorities are dispensing in nearby Zaporojie. The main British media, especially, are currently broadcasting this story. Story-telling and disinformation are the main missions of most Western media, especially British and European.

The IAEA Support and Assistance Mission to Zaporojie (ISAMZ)

The Western psychodrama is going on, with so much pathos that the story-telling is now hilarious. For at least three weeks, Russia has asked for an inspection of the IAEA in the nuclear power plant that the Ukrainian forces are shelling, when on August 29, its director, Rafael Mariano-Grossi announces at last on Twitter his personal departure with a team from Vienna, Austria, publishes one photo

The access would be easy via Russia and Russian controlled territories in southern Ukraine, but the mission stops in Kiev on August 30, where Zelenskyy sponsors it and specify that it should support the rendition of the plant to the Ukrainian forces, which is precisely the goal of the shelling for almost one month

Whatever the route, about 680 km between Kiev and Energodar, to southeast, the mission shall cross the front line. The timing is not a coincidence, on August 30, the Ukrainian forces start a suicidal offensive in the south. Its apparent and hopeless goal is Kherson, not far, about 220 km southwest of Energodar. For Kiev, the plant is a military goal and the IAEA, a new leverage in the ambition to repel the Russian forces from the region, where the referendum would be a new defeat.

The mission leaves Kiev on August 31, reaches in the afternoon Ukrainian controlled Zaporojie, about 150 km northeast of Energodar, while in direction of Kherson, thousands Ukrainian assailants are already killed or injured

Situation map on August 31 (UK defense ministry)

Something looked unfinished in the Ukrainian strategy and an amazing event confirms on September 1 that Kiev and its sponsors have regarded the IAEA as a tool to seize back the ZNPP. The Russian defense ministry reports that about 60 men have crossed the reservoir in seven boats, have landed 3 km northeast of the plant at about 6:00 am, local time. Two hours later, while the Russian forces are thwarting the special operation, the Ukrainian artillery starts shelling Vasilyevka, on the front line, left bank of the Dniepr, where the mission is expected from Zaporojie

(Social networks)

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces are holding the IAEA. Mariano-Grossi is negotiating during three hours in order to continue to the plant. The simplest explanation is that Kiev does not wish that he witnesses the fighting on the shore. Finally at about 1:45 pm, local time, the mission has crossed Vasilyevka checkpoint, is safe on the Russian side of the front line, 60 km east of Energodar

(Ivan Egorov / RG)

After his inspection, Rafael Mariano-Grossi states during a press conference

we were able to gather a lot of information. The key things I needed to see, I saw. And your explanations were very clear

Some UN inspectors will stay on the site.

Herman Halushchenko is the Ukrainian minister of energy. He is waiting in Zaporojie for the return of the IAEA director, when he states

Ukraine cannot grant all the security for the team of UN nuclear inspectors at the ZNPP

Spokesman for the UN general secretary, Stéphane Dujarric replies

we are glad that Russia has done what was necessary to protect the IAEA inspectors

when the Ukrainians have tried to storm the plant (question of a journalist).

A few days later, there are still on the shore some witnesses of the Ukrainian Grosssondereinsätze in order to seize back the plant

On September 5, the IAEA releases its report, nuclear, security and safeguards in Ukraine, 52 pages of vain literature.

The word shelling appears 52 times in that dishcloth, where nothing suggests that the Ukrainian artillery is pounding the ZNPP for weeks. While two United Nations inspectors are still there, currently under fire.

The IAEA recommends a safety and security protection zone around the plant, actually a Russian retreat from the region, its rendition to the Ukrainian chain of command, which is precisely the goal of the Ukrainian shelling.

Le machin, the gizmo, that was how French general Charles de Gaulle was calling the United Nations, has simply approved the Ukrainian nuclear terrorism.
